Our Guardian Process

Our Guardian Program

A loving home. A special companion. A future with Cavoodled By Enza.

At Cavoodled By Enza, my dogs are first and foremost family. Their health, happiness and wellbeing will always be at the heart of everything I do.

As I continue to develop my breeding program, I am looking for carefully selected Melbourne families to become part of our Guardian Program by welcoming a future breeding mum, a King Charles Cavalier, into their homes.

Guardianship allows our girls to grow up surrounded by love, companionship and the everyday comforts of family life, while remaining a valued part of my breeding program.

For me, this is what responsible breeding is about — creating a program where the wellbeing of our dogs and the love they receive are never compromised.

What is a guardian family?

A guardian family welcomes a carefully selected King Charles Cavalier puppy into their home under a Guardian Agreement.

Your girl will be your beloved family companion. She will enjoy the cuddles on the couch, family walks, adventures and all the little moments that make a dog such a special part of our lives.

During the agreed guardianship period, she will also be part of the Cavoodled By Enza breeding program. This means working together to coordinate health testing, veterinary appointments, breeding arrangements and future litters.

Once the commitments outlined in your agreement have been fulfilled, she will be desexed in accordance with the agreement and full ownership will be transferred to your family.

Why do I have a Guardian Program?

As a small, family-focused breeder, I believe our dogs deserve to experience life as much-loved family members rather than living in a kennel environment.

Guardianship allows me to continue developing my breeding lines while ensuring our girls have their own families, individual attention and a home to call their own.

It is a partnership built on trust, communication and a shared commitment to the wellbeing of each dog.

What does guardianship involve?

Becoming a guardian is a wonderful opportunity, but it is also a commitment that needs careful consideration.

Our guardian families must be comfortable with:

  • Providing a safe, loving and permanent family home throughout the guardianship period.

  • Living within approximately 50-100 kilometres of me in Melbourne.

  • Working closely with me regarding health assessments, DNA testing and reproductive veterinary appointments.

  • Following the safety requirements outlined in the Guardian Agreement.

  • Making their girl available for agreed breeding arrangements.

  • Understanding that she will spend an extended period with me when she is approaching her due date and raising her puppies.

  • Maintaining open communication and being willing to work together in the best interests of their dog.

I understand that being without your girl while she raises her puppies can be difficult. This is something I discuss openly with every prospective guardian family so expectations are clear from the beginning.

What does guardianship cost?

The only fee required from the guardian family is the cost of the mandatory 28-day Stay and Train Program with Therapy & Support Animals Australia in Brisbane, commencing from eight weeks of age.

Cavoodled By Enza will arrange and cover the flights to and from Brisbane.

Breeding-related veterinary expenses and health testing will be covered by Cavoodled By Enza in accordance with the Guardian Agreement. Routine care remains the responsibility of the guardian family as outlined in the agreement.

Guardian families also receive a thank-you payment of $100 per puppy sold from eligible litters, excluding the final litter.

Is guardianship right for you?

I am looking for families who genuinely love dogs, understand the responsibilities of guardianship and want to be involved in something meaningful.

You do not need to have breeding experience, but you do need to be committed, responsible and comfortable communicating with me throughout the process.

Most importantly, everyone in your household must understand and be comfortable with the arrangement.

I want our guardian families to feel supported, informed and confident in their decision. I encourage you to ask questions, discuss your concerns and take the time you need before making a commitment.
